National Assembly Chairman visits Swiss friend who has made many contributions to Can Tho

Mr. James and Mrs. Mic - a Swiss couple - have left a deep impression on the health of Can Tho and the entire Mekong Delta.

During a working trip to Switzerland, on the afternoon of July 28, local time, Politburo member and National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife Nguyen Thi Thanh Nga visited the family of Mr. Jacques Savary (in Vevey city, Switzerland) - who has made many contributions to the health sector and people of Can Tho city.

National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man expressed that he always remembers and appreciates the affection and sacrifice of personal interests in terms of time, health and finances of Mr. Jacques Savary and Mrs. Mic - his wife - to support the health sector and people of Can Tho city.

Mr. Jacques Savary expressed his emotion at meeting again with National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man and his wife; reviewing the memories and feelings of the leaders and people of Can Tho when he worked in Vietnam many years ago and the memories when the National Assembly Chairman and the delegation of Can Tho city officials visited and exchanged experiences in Switzerland at his family.

Mr. Jacques Savary said that later in his return to Switzerland, the Vietnamese Embassy in Switzerland, and Vietnamese friends and Can Tho, when they had the opportunity to go to Switzerland, all visited and gave his family warmest feelings. That is an immeasurable quality.

Mr. James and Mrs. Mic - two simple people from Switzerland - have left a deep impression in the medical community of Can Tho and the entire Mekong Delta.

In 1995, together with a group of doctors and nurses from Vietnam Medical Aids (VMA), the couple chose Can Tho as their destination, carrying a charitable heart and aspiration to support a health sector that is still facing many difficulties.

Before coming to Vietnam, Ms. Mic was a nurse at Lausanne Hospital, Switzerland; Mr. James is a bio engineer, a person with solid knowledge and a passionate heart.

In the context of the Can Tho health sector still lacking and lacking in both human resources and equipment, the support of the people and the VMA Association is a new wind that brings many positive changes.

During 7 years (1995-2002), thanks to the dedicated help of Mr. Jacques and Mrs. Mic, hospitals such as Can Tho General Hospital, Can Tho Children's Hospital, and Vi Thanh Hospital have been enhanced in expertise, accessing modern equipment, contributing to improving the quality of medical examination and treatment for people.

In 2002, for health reasons, the couple returned to Switzerland. However, their affection and responsibility for Vietnam are still being maintained. The VMA Association has remained silent in accompanying and continuing to support the health sector of Can Tho and the Mekong Delta provinces until today.

The fact that National Assembly Chairman Tran Thanh Man met again with Mr. James Savary's family after more than 20 years is a testament to the strong bond and friendship between the two sides, contributing to deepening the friendship between Vietnam and Switzerland.
