Deputy Prime Minister Le Thanh Long has just signed Decision No. 848/QD-TTg dated April 28, 2025 to convert Phuong Dong Private University into a private university.
According to the decision, Phuong Dong University of Economics will be converted into Phuong Dong University. Phuong Dong University is a private higher education institution, with legal status, its own seal and account, operating in accordance with the provisions of the Law on Higher Education and related legal provisions.
The Deputy Prime Minister requested that the transformation process must be clear and transparent, not to let negativity, loss, or waste of finance and assets; and not to affect the normal and continuous operation of the school.
Ensure the legitimate and legal rights and interests of learners, lecturers, managers, employees and individuals and organizations that have made real contributions to the formation and development of the school, in accordance with the provisions of law.
The Deputy Prime Minister assigned the Ministry of Education and Training to preside over and coordinate with the Hanoi People's Committee to guide, inspect and supervise the conversion, establishment of the University Council, recognition of the Principal, organization and operation of Phuong Dong University in accordance with legal regulations.
The Board of Directors in session is responsible for organizing an investor conference to establish a School Council and recognize the Principal according to the provisions of current law; to be completed within 3 months from the effective date of this decision.
The Board of Directors and the current Principal continue to perform their functions, tasks and powers according to current regulations until the investor conference establishes the School Council and recognizes the Principal.
This decision takes effect from the date of signing and promulgation, April 28, 2025.
