On the morning of October 31, Mr. Le Van Thanh - Principal of Dang Thai Mai High School (address: Bich Hao Commune, Nghe An Province) - reported to the Department of Education and Training (GDDT) of Nghe An about the incident of students being beaten by a group outside the school area.
According to the report, at around 5:17 p.m. on October 27, a group of students from the school and outsiders played bidding at a restaurant in Giang Tien hamlet, Bich Hao commune, about 800m from the school. While playing, a fight broke out, Nguyen Huu Bao Duy (born in 2010, student of class 10A1) was attacked by Nguyen Xuan M. (born in 2009, student of class 10C2) and several others, using a bid stick to hit Duy in the head, causing Duy to lose consciousness.
Immediately afterwards, the victim was taken to Nghe An General Friendship Hospital for emergency treatment. After two days of coma, Duy was determined by doctors to have a severe head injury, required brain surgery and is being monitored in the intensive care unit.
"Duy's health is improving, and he is being monitored and treated" - Mr. Le Van Thanh said and added that Duy is the eldest son in the family, his father passed away early, and his mother is a teacher.
Regarding student Nguyen Xuan M., Principal of Dang Thai Mai High School, said that the school is consolidating the case file to handle it according to regulations.
Em M is an outstanding student, had participated in fights before and was not recognized as a junior high school graduate, but now she has beaten her friend, causing serious injuries. But it is very difficult for schools to handle, because according to the regulations in Circular 19/2025 of the Ministry of Education and Training regulating rewards and discipline for students (effective from October 31, 2025), forms of handling such as suspending school for 1 week and 1 year have been abolished" - Principal of Dang Thai Mai High School said.
The school coordinated with Bich Hao Commune Police and local authorities to verify and take statements from the students involved, and at the same time sent teachers to visit and encourage the victim's family.
According to relatives, Duy only stopped by the restaurant to call his friend back when he was suddenly attacked by 2-3 students from the same school, even though there was no conflict before.
Security camera footage at the restaurant shows a group of about 8-9 students surrounding the bid table, then a male student suddenly used a stick to repeatedly hit the victim, causing the victim to fall.
Bich Hao Commune Police are consolidating the case file, investigating and clarifying the incident.
