The Czech Republic supports 3.5 billion VND for people in the Central region affected by storms and floods

The Czech Republic will present people affected by storms and floods in Central Vietnam with humanitarian assistance worth VND3.5 billion.

On the afternoon of November 20, at the Presidential Palace, Politburo member and President Luong Cuong received Chairman of the Czech National Assembly Milos Vystrcil, who is on an official visit to Vietnam.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, at the meeting, the two sides expressed their delight at the positive developments in Vietnam - Czech Republic relations in many fields, on the basis of high political trust.

Two-way trade turnover grew impressively, reaching 2 billion USD in 2024 and 1.9 billion USD in the first 10 months of 2025, but was not commensurate with the potential and strengths of the two countries. The two sides still have much room to increase trade turnover, promote investment and cooperation in many other fields.

President Luong Cuong suggested that the legislative bodies of the two countries continue to coordinate to create a favorable legal corridor for bilateral cooperation, meeting the common interests of the two countries, contributing to peace, stability, cooperation and development in the region and the world.

To promote Vietnam - Czech Republic cooperation to continue to develop more substantially and effectively, the President suggested that the two sides increase contacts and delegation exchanges at different levels and channels to strengthen political trust; promote economic, trade, investment, national defense - security, science - technology, education - training, culture - tourism and promote people-to-people exchanges to enhance mutual understanding between the people of the two countries, expand new areas of cooperation that the two sides can supplement and support each other; suggest that the Czech Republic coordinate to promote the remaining member countries of the European Union (EU) to soon ratify the Vietnam - EU Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA), support the European Commission (EU-EC) to remove the yellow card I for Vietnamese seafood exports.

Agreeing with President Luong Cuong's proposals, Senate Chairman Milos Vystrcil said that the legislative bodies of the two countries will coordinate in implementing high-level agreements, supporting the two governments to promote bilateral cooperation in all fields.

Chairman of the Czech National Assembly Milos Vystrcil highly appreciated the contributions of the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic to the socio-economic development of the locality and affirmed that the Czech National Assembly and authorities at all levels will continue to care for and create favorable conditions for the community.

Regarding multilateral cooperation, the two leaders affirmed that Vietnam and the Czech Republic will continue to closely coordinate and support each other at multilateral forums, especially at the United Nations, within the framework of ASEAN - EU; and affirmed their support for the settlement of disputes, including the East Sea issue, by peaceful means in accordance with international law, especially the 1982 United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).

On this occasion, Chairman of the Czech National Assembly Milos Vystrcil informed President Luong Cuong that the Czech side will present people affected by storms and floods in Central Vietnam with humanitarian assistance worth equivalent to 3.5 billion VND through the Vietnam Red Cross Society and hope that Vietnam will soon overcome difficulties and overcome the damage caused by natural disasters.
