On the morning of November 18, Mr. Pham Anh Hao - Chairman of the People's Committee of Son Kim 1 commune - said that the prolonged rain has caused many locations of National Highway 8 to Cau Treo border gate through Son Kim 1 commune to have minor landslides.
After that, the road management unit assigned leveling machinery to ensure normal traffic without causing traffic congestion.
"Currently, many locations are still at risk of further landslides if the rain continues to continue," Mr. Hao shared.
National Highway 8 is a vital traffic route, the only route to Cau Treo International Border Gate of Ha Tinh province. Every day, many vehicles pass by, especially tractor-trailers and container trucks.
Because it passes through mountainous terrain with many passes and slopes, in recent years, during the rainy season, National Highway 8 often has landslides, affecting the traffic and potentially causing unsafety and insecurity for drivers.
According to the representative of Son Kim Road Management Department (CP 456 Company), the unit has developed different handling scenarios depending on the level of landslides, thereby proactively preparing excavators, bulldozers, and dump trucks so that when landslides occur, they will be focused on overcoming them as soon as possible, to ensure smooth traffic.
